Eric C. Shattuck, Ph.D. Interim Director
Shattuck has been with IHDR since 2018. He is a biological anthropologist whose research focuses on infectious disease, sickness behavior, human immunology and endocrinology, and the role of culture in shaping disease experiences. Lizette Aviles, B.S. Program Coordinator
Aviles has been with IHDR since 2019. She has experience working on SAMHSA funded projects focused on substance use/abuse, HIV/AIDS, and viral hepatitis prevention with young adults in the UTSA community. Ms. Aviles serves as the point of contact for all department inquiries.
Gabrielle Franco, MPH Administrative Assistant
Franco has been with IHDR since 2016. She has experience working on various research projects that focus on health promotion and prevention among various populations in the United States and Mexico. She has been involved in grant submission, IRB approval, recruitment, data collection, data analyses, and publication of study results. Ms. Franco serves as the department’s point of contact for the research budgets, as well as the organizer for a wide variety of project administration.

Bridget Agnew Peer Educator, PAASA
Bridget has been with IHDR since 2019. As a Peer Educator, she helps middle school students in San Antonio learn about emotional intelligence and substance abuse prevention, as part of a SAMHSA funded project.
John Montoya Peer Educator, PAASA
John has been with IHDR since 2019. As a Peer Educator, he helps middle school students in San Antonio learn about emotional intelligence and substance abuse prevention, as part of a SAMHSA funded project.
Henry Xu Data Specialist, PAASA
Henry has been working with IHDR since 2015. As a Data Specialist, he oversees the data collection efforts to ensure timeliness and quality as part of a SAMHSA funded project.
Jacklynn Ware, MPH Project Lead, Pathways to Prevention
Jacklynn has been with IHDR since 2018. As a Project Lead, she helps Bexar County community members learn medication safety practices and skills to avoid misuse. She also provides local pharmacists and medical providers with resources and information on how to educate patients about safe medication practices.
Milla Paumo, MS Project Lead, Pathways to Prevention
Milla has been with IHDR since 2021. As a Project Lead, she coordinates and manages the data collection efforts for program evaluation and improvement.
